This week we’re introducing our new Social Media Specialist, Martha Reid! Martha began her post-secondary career at the University of King’s College where she studied the evolution of Western Thought. She most recently graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation. Martha’s studies focused on the applications of recreation and leisure to support mental resilience and healthy coping skills!

As part of Martha’s graduation requirements, she completed an immersive 4-month placement across two mental health service areas: Acute Care and Psychosocial Rehabilitation. For her culminating assignment, she developed and implemented an intervention that provided patients with opportunities to learn about and practice skills that promoted healthy self-esteem to aid with the successful transition to community living. This experience helped her understand the value of working among collaborative teams, and just how important it is to cultivate the psychological skills and resources necessary to maintain mental wellness. Furthermore, it inspired her interest in getting involved with AIR which aims to support the shift to a proactive mental health care model.

Martha leverages her background working on political campaigns and disseminating party platforms via social media to support content creation and messaging through AIR’s social platforms.

We’re so happy to have you with us, Martha!
